    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Take a look at this hand-picked selection of inquiries you are interested in:

    What is low testosterone treatment?
Low testosterone treatment is the practice of diagnosing hypogonadism (low testosterone) through a combination of symptoms and testosterone blood values below the lower limit of normal and treating with testosterone injections, gels, patches, surgically implanted pellets, or oral applications. Our clinic uses injection therapy to treat low testosterone in hypogonadal men.
Do I need to fast before my blood is drawn for low T test?
No. Fasting is not required. We do recommend that you drink plenty of water prior to your appointment, to make sure you are hydrated.
Should I take hormone replacement therapy during menopause?
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is designed to help women whose menopausal symptoms -- hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, mood swings, vaginal dryness -- are severe and affecting their quality of life. These symptoms can go on for years after your last period. HRT replaces or supplements the hormones your body doesn’t make anymore. Most women who use it take a combination of estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen is what helps most with symptoms like hot flashes and vaginal dryness; progesterone is added to protect against uterine cancer for women who have not had a hysterectomy.
    What is hormone therapy?
Hormone therapies are the prescription drugs used most often to treat hot flashes and genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), which includes vaginal dryness, after menopause. For hot flashes, hormones are given in pills, patches, sprays, gels, or a vaginal ring that deliver hormones throughout the body — known as systemic therapy. For genitourinary symptoms, hormones are given in creams, pills, or rings that are inserted into the vagina. An approved pill is also available to treat genitourinary symptoms that is not considered a hormone but does affect estrogen receptors, mostly in and around the vagina.
Why do I have to rotate injection sites for HGH?
Injection sites, which may be located on the thigh, upper arm, abdomen, or buttock, should always be rotated to avoid damage to the fat tissue (lipoatrophy). Even if you prefer to inject one place on your body, it is important to rotate where you inject your medication. Rotating injection sites with each injection helps to reduce the chances of problems developing at the injection site. You should call your doctor if any of the following symptoms are noticed at an injection site: A lump that doesn’t go away Bruising that doesn’t go away Any signs of infection or inflammation, such as swelling, pus, persistent redness or pain, or skin that is hot to the touch
What is the blood test looking for?
A doctor may perform blood tests periodically to adjust your growth hormone dose. These blood tests measure things like insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1), which is produced when GH tells the liver to make it. IGF-1 then goes to bones, muscles, and organs to signal growth and/or metabolism. Because IGF-1 lasts longer in the bloodstream then GH, doctors can indirectly measure the amount of GH by looking at the levels of IGF-1.
